Academy
Prep is designed to promote an appreciation for hard work,
growth in personal responsibility, and academic and social skills.
To accomplish these guiding principles, our programs are aimed at
educating "the whole child."

a focus on the basics as well as foreign language and technology
instruction
Our curriculum is based upon Sunshine State standards and geared
toward bringing students to grade level and beyond-particularly
in mathematics and language arts. Most of our students matriculate
into college preparatory high schools on finishing Academy Prep.
Standardized testing serves to help us assess our students' progress
through our curriculum and to "benchmark" them in relation
to students around the area and the nation.

| Campus Clean-up |
Academy
Prep is in the business of teaching personal responsibility. One of
the ways students at Academy Prep learn to take responsibility for
their actions is by cleaning their campus. Each afternoon, after academic
coursework and before the after-school activity program, students
clean the campus-mop floors, pick up trash, clean bathrooms, and generally
make their campus a place of pride. |

| After-School Activities
|
|
   The
after-school activity program is an integral part of the Academy
Prep experience. All students participate each day from 3:30 until
5:00 in activities designed to strengthen students' bodies and minds
and enrich their souls.

p.m. |
Any students who have not earned all A's and B's in all classes stay
for extra help.
Numerous volunteers from the community-from retired professionals
to working business people to high school and college students-staff
the evening academic study period. During this time, Academy Prep
students complete homework assignments, prepare for tests, and receive
tutoring help from their teachers and the community.

| Saturday |

participate in various activities from community service and museum
trips to sporting events on alternating Saturdays
Saturday field trips designed to supplement our classroom instruction:
Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, the Tampa Public Library,
the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, the Lowry Park Zoo (where
we painted a 150-foot mural at the Zoo School), Fort DeSoto State
Park, Dali Museum, The International Museum in St. Petersburg, The
Florida Aquarium, Hillsborough River State Park, and Mac Dill Air
Force Base, and many other opportunities

| Summer |
Summer
camp includes academics in the mornings and swimming lessons and extra-curricular
activities each afternoon. The summer program also serves as the final
leg of the admission process, as all prospective students attend,
along with returning Academy Prep students. At the end of the summer
program, the new 5th and 6th grade class rosters are finalized.

| Graduate Support |
Academy
Prep and the Director of Graduate Support work with the students,
schools, and parents, receiving academic and behavior reports and
keeping regular contact with students. The Graduate Support program
support begins while students are still attending Academy Prep, with
interviews and discussions designed to identify the best high school
fit for each Academy Prep student on graduation.
