Leanne Bayne

Ms. Bayne has been employed at Academy Prep since 2000. Ms. Bayne
holds an M.A. in Elementary Education from the University of South
Florida and a B.A. in Visual Arts and Spanish from Eckerd College.
Coming to the U.S. from Trinidad in 1996 to attend Eckerd, Ms. Bayne
began her teaching career at Academy Prep as an AmeriCorps teacher
after graduation. She has taught a range of subjects over the years,
such as Science, Reading, Spanish, and History. She also served as
the 5th grade girls’ teacher when the school implemented self-contained
classrooms. She has served the school in a number of additional capacities
as well, including Dean of Students, Disciplinary Advisor, cheerleading
coach and the Girl Scouts troop leader. Ms. Bayne has been Lead Teacher
since 2006. |

Danielle graduated from Emmanuel College in Boston, Massachusetts
with degrees in Chemistry and Secondary Education. She also earned
a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University
of South Florida.
Before coming to Academy Prep Danielle worked with college students
in Housing and Residential Education. She joined the Academy Prep
family as the boys’ science teacher. Additionally, Danielle
works closely with the AmeriCorps Teachers.

A native of St. Petersburg, Sonja Felton graduated from Lakewood High
School in 1990. She attended Florida A & M University in Tallahassee,
Florida, but obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University
of South Florida-Tampa. Sonja is currently pursuing a Master of Public
Administration with a concentration in Non-Profit Administration through
Troy University.
Sonja comes to Academy Prep from Eckerd College after serving two
years as the Associate Director of Annual Giving and most recently,
two years as Assistant Director of Admission. She is also very active
in the local community having served as Treasurer of the Board of
Directors of the Carter G. Woodson African American Museum and currently
as the Vice President of Development of the Board of Directors of
the YWCA Tampa Bay. She is also a member of the Pinellas County
Urban League Guild and Pinellas County Urban League Young Professionals. |

Barbara Peck-Cabiac

Barbara Peck-Cabiac has over 30 years of experience in resource, business
and program development, administration, board and volunteer development
and coordination in both private and non profit settings. She has
specialized in strategic planning; major gifts and endowment; grant
writing and research; and advocacy and lobbying on behalf of clients.
She has held senior executive positions in a variety of non profit
institutions and organizations for the arts, higher education, communal
service organizations and health services.
She is currently a consultant with The Ostroff Group, a national fundraising
organization and is a former adjunct professor at Old Dominion University
and has lectured on fundraising to local and national organizations.
She holds a BA from the University of Florida and an MS from Old Dominion
University. |

Glenn Baker

Glenn is a life long resident of St. Petersburg. He graduated from
Lakewood Senior High School in 1973. His hobbies include: mobile DJ’ing,
fishing and cycling.
Glenn does a wonderful job keeping our campus clean and well groomed. |

Vicky Baumann comes to Academy Prep with an administrative background
of more than 30 years, including a background in academia having worked
at Shorecrest and at Stetson College of Law. She also has done professional
and regional theatre throughout the US and Canada and looks forward
to sharing those talents with the students. Vicky enjoys working alongside
both the students, parents, teachers and staff and assisting them
in whatever way she can. |

Bridget Blum

Bridget graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a double
major in Psychology and Art Studio. While at Notre Dame, Bridget was
involved in numerous service and research programs focusing on inner
city youth and education.
Upon graduating, Bridget began her involvement with Academy Prep
as an AmeriCorps teacher and was primarily responsible for the drama
program. After frequently collaborating with the Development Office
during her year of service, Bridget joined the Development team
in 2011. She hopes to utilize her creativity and firsthand knowledge
of the student body to foster many successful development projects
and fundraisers. |

Jonathan graduated from Eckerd College in 2010 with a B.A. degree in Economics and minored in Visual Arts and Religious Studies. He was a member of the Eckerd Varsity Tennis Team in 2005 and 2009, and is also heavily involved in the arts – mainly drawing and painting. Jonathan is a St. Petersburg native and attended high school at Shorecrest Preparatory School. As part of the 2011-2012 AmeriCorp team, he will be teaching Math 2 and Physical Education. His goal as a teacher is to instill a sense leadership skills and self-respect among the wonderful children at APSP. |

Lillian Callihan

Lillian Callihan is married with 3 children and is a graduate of Pinellas
Park Senior High, Dillard University and Webster University. She majored
in Accounting and worked in the business world for 22 years, primarily
for the Federal Government as an Auditor.
In the summer of 2002, Mrs. Callihan finally fulfilled her dream of
being a teacher and began at Azalea Middle in Pinellas County. She
taught 7th and 8th grade there before joining Academy Prep, where
she now teaches Math to the boys and a group of 8th grade girls. Mrs.
Callihan became a teacher to help today’s students, who are
in critical need of positive influences. She plans to set reasonable,
yet high expectations for her students to yield children who feel
capable and productive. She feels her greatest accomplishment is her
commitment to educating children and helping them reach their goals. |

Hugh Culbreath

Hugh is an eighth generation Tampa Bay native. He served seven years
in the United States Navy on the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan.
He returned to Tampa and earned a Bachelor degree in Business Administration
from the University of Tampa. He returned to the University of Tampa
and earned a Master degree in Education to follow his dream of teaching.
Hugh currently teaches Social Studies to the boys. His passion is
teaching and learning about history and travelling. He is excited
to be able to share his many travels with the students. |

Mr. Fernando graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2009 with
a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a focus on the physics of semiconductor
devices and electric circuit theory. Originally from Phoenix, AZ,
he served Academy Prep St Petersburg as the Computers and Technology
teacher for a year, and is now working very hard with our young ladies
on learning about Science. |

Leigh is a graduate of the University of Florida with a degree
in Public Relations. While at UF, Leigh became involved in non-profit
work while an intern with the Cris Collinsworth Foundation.
After moving to the Bay area, she continued her love of non-profit
work with several area organizations. With over 8 years of development
experience in media relations, event planning and grant writing;
Leigh looks forward to being an advocate for the students and sharing
the wonderful mission of Academy Prep. |

Kathy relocated to Florida five years ago from New Jersey. She earned
her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Rhode Island, her
Masters from Rutgers University, and graduate credits from Rider University.
Before joining Academy prep, Kathy taught math on the middle school
and college level, developed curriculum for basic skills, and extensively
tutored high school students for the ACT and SAT college admission
tests. As our girls math instructor, she believes in blending traditional
math instruction with real-life problem solving. |

Elizabeth Good is our Community Relations Coordinator. She graduated
from the University of Tampa with a B.A. in Sociology and a B.S.
in Criminology. Before coming to Academy Prep, Elizabeth worked
in the Admissions Department at the University of Tampa. She began
her time with Academy Prep as an AmeriCorps instructor. She loves
to engage her students in creative exploration and build lasting
relationships throughout the community.

invaluable to our campus’ needs.
Kevin’s talents are also responsible for our beautiful lush
landscape. As our assistant baseball coach, Kevin shares his love
of the sport to motivate our team. |

Shari Hooker is our Guidance Counselor. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL. She received her Master’s Degree in School Guidance Counselor from Argosy University in Sarasota, FL. Shari’s professional history includes; Substance Abuse, Dropout Prevention, Department of Children and Families, and Mental Health. Throughout her career her focus has always been on children and adolescents. She has a strong desire in building a working relationship in the hopes of facilitating positive change in our today’s youth.

Elizabeth is immersed in the community. She has experience in both
the public and private sector of education. Elizabeth was employed
for 11 years with Pinellas County Schools as a Data Preparations
Clerk, and Secretary for Guidance.
In addition, she brought a wealth of knowledge gained in the public
school setting to the community, families and individuals she served
while at Family Service Centers. Since joining APSP Graduate Support
in 2003, Elizabeth has continued to serve those she cherishes most
in her community: her students and their families. |

Rachel Robinson is a recent graduate of Eckerd College, located here

painting, drawing, photography and media arts. |

Mr. St. Clair graduated from the University of Florida with a degree
in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation. Mr. St.Clair most recently comes
to Academy Prep from Pathfinder Outdoor Education, an organization
that uses the outdoors and experiential learning as resources for
encouraging leadership, character development, team-oriented behaviors
and pro-social skills. By transferring his knowledge and training
into the classroom, Mr. St. Clair hopes to create an engaging, positive
and productive environment for children to enjoy the process of learning
and realizing their full potential. His motto is: “Anything
is possible if you keep an open mind, make use of all your resources,
and remember to have fun!” |

Virginia J. Scott comes to Academy Prep from Family Service Centers,
Inc. in which she had worked for about 9 years, as Family Life Educator
and more recently Life Skills Educator. Family Life Educators provided
training presentations on various topics in prevention to Pinellas
County School children, grades (K-12) and adults in the immediate
community. The program was funded by the Juvenile Welfare Board for
almost 25 years.
She is a graduate of St. Petersburg College (Gibbs Campus), and Eckerd
College, with a degree in Human Resources, also, major/course study
at USF in Education, Criminal Justice, and Psychology, and has served
the Tampa Bay Area in Child and Family Services for more than 25 years.
Mrs. Scott looks forwards to sharing her love and respect for children
with the Academy Prep family. |

Jessica Strong graduated from the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill with a B.A. in public policy analysis, where she concentrated
on social and education policy. A North Carolina native, she relocated
to St. Petersburg 3 years ago to serve as an AmeriCorps writing teacher.
In addition to her year in AmeriCorps, Jessica has served as Academy
Prep's Community Relations Director, and is now the girl's Language
Arts teacher. |

Caitlin Sullivan recently graduated from the University of Notre Dame

Spencer Weiss

A native of Maine, Spencer graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Eckerd College in 2011 with a degree in Political Science.
Prior to working for Academy Prep, Spencer worked as Camp Director for a summer camp in Maine and has been thoroughly involved in Sports and coaching kids since he was in Middle School. His most recent position before coming to Academy Prep was as a salmon fisherman on Kodiak Island, Alaska. Spencer has played almost every sport at a competitive level and so brings a wealth of knowledge to the P.E. program in this department, but also has plenty of experience in the theater and the outdoors, having been in involved in the performing arts since the age of 4 and graduating from the National Outdoor Leadership School in 2010. Spencer was introduced to Academy Prep this year as the volunteer Boy Scout Troop Leader and continues to be the man in the field for the program as well as heading the Improvisational group on campus. Spencer teaches P.E. and Math 2 on the Girls’ side. |

Kathy grew up in St. Petersburg and is an alumnus of Boca Ciega High
School.
She graduated from USF St. Petersburg in 2007 with a Bachelor Degree
in English Education. Kathy was an employee of Pinellas County Schools
for 15 years and enjoyed her time working at Gibbs High School as
the Principal’s secretary.
Having been the Office Manager at Academy Prep for our 2006-07 school
year, Kathy is glad to be back. She is looking forward to working
with Ms. Bayne and the staff in the front office. |
