Academy
Prep is designed to promote an appreciation for hard work,
growth in personal responsibility, and academic and social skills.
To accomplish these guiding principles, our programs are aimed at
educating "the whole child."

|
|
| Academics |
| Our
curriculum is based upon Sunshine State standards and geared toward
bringing students to grade level and beyond-particularly in mathematics
and language arts. Upon completing the Academy Prep program, most
of our students matriculate into college preparatory high schools.
Standardized testing serves to help us assess our students' progress
through our curriculum and to "benchmark" them in relation
to students in the local area and nation.

| Campus Clean-up |
Academy Prep is in the business of teaching personal responsibility.
One of the ways students at Academy Prep learn to take responsibility
for their actions is by cleaning their campus. Each afternoon, after
academic coursework and before the after-school activity program,
students clean the campus. Each class is responsible for mopping floors,
picking up trash, cleaning bathrooms, and taking pride in their campus. |

| Enrichment Activities
|
|
The
after-school activity program is an integral part of the Academy
Prep experience. Each day from 3:30 until 5:00, students participate
in activities designed to strengthen their bodies and minds and
to enrich their souls.
Activities Include:
Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is a
national program that teaches business principles to students. Out
of the nine schools participating in Pinellas County , Academy Prep
is the only middle school program locally available! Students participate
with high schools at a fall rally, competitive events in the spring,
field trips and fund raisers.
Junior Optimist Club
Competitive
Sports at Academy Prep include Track, Cross Country, Baseball, Chess,
Karate, Golf, and Basketball. Students participate in competitions
and tournaments against local private high schools. Through these
sports Academy Prep students are given the opportunity to develop
their talents and gain exposure to local private schools they may
be interested in attending in the future.

| Academic Support |
Students
not maintaining As and Bs in all graded courses are required to stay
for study hall. Volunteers come from all over the community to serve
as tutors during this evening study period. Local high school and
college students, retirees, and business professionals join Academy
Prep parents to tutor our students. |

|
|
| Saturday |
Students
participate in various activities from community service and museum
trips to sporting events. These field trips are designed to supplement
classroom instruction.
Students enjoy Saturday trips to the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg,
Fort DeSoto State Park, and the Salvador Dali Museum as well as canoeing
trips, beach cleanups, ball games, and many more opportunities.

| Summer |
Summer
camp includes academics in the mornings and extra-curricular activities
each afternoon. The summer program also serves as the final leg of
the admission process, as all prospective students attend, along with
returning Academy Prep students. At the end of the summer program,
the new 5th and 6th grade class rosters are finalized.

| Graduate Support |
| Academy
Prep and the Director of Graduate Support work with the students,
parents, and prospective private and boarding schools, receiving
constant academic and behavior reports and keeping regular contact
with students. The Graduate Support program begins while students
are still attending Academy Prep. GSP assists current students and
their families with interviews and discussions designed to identify
the best high school fit.
