Are
you a recent college graduate? Do you think you may like to teach?
Are you interested in “giving back to the community?”
The AmeriCorps program may be for you!
A word about AmeriCorps
AmeriCorps is the domestic version of the Peace Corps
and generally comprises recent college grads who want to give a year
or more of service to nonprofit organizations.
AmeriCorps volunteers serve a vital role at Academy Prep. The teach
classes, supervise activities, working closely with students and professional
teachers. In exchange for their invaluable service, AmeriCorps volunteers
live on campus in beautiful apartments, receiving room and board,
a modest monthly stipend, and health insurance. Additionally, after
a year of service, the AmeriCorps program grants an additional stipend
for use toward repaying college loans or applying toward graduate
school courses.

A
word about volunteering (a
link to our "Volunteer" page)
Academy Prep thrives because of the volunteer and
financial support of the community. Academy Prep volunteers include
retired professionals and educators, high school and college students,
community leaders, business people, Academy Prep parents—and
everyone in between! They perform such important functions as tutoring
and mentoring students, support in the offices, serving lunch to
students, teaching classes, leading after-school activities, substitute
teaching, and many, many more.
