The Story

SUPPORT

	Academy Prep and the Tampa Bay Community Many remarkable young people, without means, dream of a real opportunity for success and fulfillment. These children are talented, creative, and have the drive to lead productive lives. They could become adults who give back to our communities. These children live in some of the poorest communities in Tampa Bay. Their families struggle day to day to make ends meet. They know few people who have graduated from college, and they lack access to our community’s rich learning opportunities. These are the students that Academy Prep serves and guides. With your help, we can introduce them to the larger world we all share. Serving over 300 middle, high school and college students annually, Academy Prep relies on the support of Tampa Bay individuals, companies, foundations, and organizations to operate our two education Centers in south St. Petersburg and Ybor City. 	Online Contributions

	As part of the Academy Prep Alumni site we have a section to allow you make direct online donations to benefit The Alumni Fund, The Annual Planting Drive, The Capital Campaign, Live Oak Legacy Society. You may access information here. Academy Prep commits to supporting graduates in various ways throughout their educational careers. 	Sponsor A Student

	Sponsor A Student One of the best ways to support Academy Prep is by sponsoring a student. The Sponsor A Student program is designed to link donors to the students they are supporting through their generosity. For more information on how the Sponsor a Student works Click Here ( 208K PDF). As students meet the income guidelines for the federal lunch program to be considered for admission, all students attend on need-based scholarships provided by the community—from individuals, businesses, and foundations. It costs roughly $13,500 to provide a full scholarship for a student for one year at Academy Prep.. Your gift to Academy Prep Foundation helps provide worthy students the opportunity to change their life's path—and the tools to become a positive, productive member of society.

	Capital

	At Academy Prep we believe our students deserve to learn in high quality, attractive campus facilities. Individuals, businesses, and foundations sometimes choose to support our capital fund programs as a way to "invest" in the future of their communities. At Academy Prep Center of St. Petersburg, the companies that have supported facilities through capital contributions include: • Beall's, Inc. • Mercantile Bank • Northern Trust Bank • Raymond James • Republic Bank • Tech Data • United Bank Academy Prep Center of Tampa constructed a new campus in the heart of Ybor City's historic district. Businesses who make a capital contribution to support campus facilities may be eligible for significant tax credits or refunds through the Community Contribution Tax Credit Program (CCTCP). (PDF file 192K) Although the 4 main buildings in the original plan for the St. Petersburg campus have been completed since 2000, the campus is being expanded and renovated to meet the needs of our students and staff. Current needs include: Pavilions to cover basketball courts ($90,000 each) New Building on campus to provide space for performing arts including steel drums, dance, and drama ($57,000 )

	Ensuring the Future

	Each campus of Academy Prep is working toward building a special "reserve" fund to ensure the long-term viability of our programs. The "Board Designated Endowment" will allow each school to focus more on the business of educating and supporting students in need and less on annual fundraising to pay for student scholarships.
